Centurion Mk.III Full-Option
History & Significance
Released in 2021 as part of Tamiya’s 1/16 tank series. The real Centurion Mk.III was a refined British heavy cruiser tank variant armed with the L/66.7 20-pounder long-barrel gun, notably deployed in the Korean War from 1950, where it is credited with helping stabilise Allied positions at several critical points.
Chassis Engineering
Aluminium gun barrel and chassis, with die-cast suspension arms and drive sprockets; tracks come pre-assembled. Features movable Horstmann suspension — a distinctive real-Centurion design faithfully modelled — and a magnetically-detachable hatch for easy battery swaps. Two Type-380 motors handle drive, plus a Type-130 motor and two servos for turret/gun functions, with a 4-channel control unit handling movement, turning, elevation, recoil, turret rotation, and synchronised engine/firing sound and lights.
