OPTIMA MID ’87 WC Worlds Spec 60th Anniversary Limited
History & Significance
Commemorates Team Kyosho’s “Mid Optima” prototype, a midship-motor 4WD entry that competed at the 1987 IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road World Championships in England — five of Kyosho’s cars made the ten-car A-Main final, finishing 2nd overall. That result helped validate the mid-motor layout that became the production Optima Mid. Released in 2023 as a 60th-anniversary limited edition.
Chassis Engineering
Recreates the WC prototype specification with a midship-mounted motor 4WD layout (distinct from the rear-motor Optima Pro), a newly moulded body with a large polycarbonate rear wing, gunmetal-anodised aluminium parts (versus the original’s gold), and an upgraded 7075 super-duralumin main gear shaft, with titanium-coated shock shafts for wear resistance.

A limited 60th-anniversary special edition recreating a specific 1987 works prototype spec — related to, but distinct from, the standard Optima Mid and Optima Pro Vintage Series kits.
